In this week's parsha we are told , בָּנִים אַתֶּם לַיהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, You are children to your Lord God. Pirkeh Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) discusses this  pasuk.

חביבין ישראל שנקראו בנים למקום. חיבה יתרה נודעת להם שנקראו בנים למקום, שנאמר (דברים יד), בנים אתם לה' אלהיכם

Beloved are Israel, for they are called children of G-d; it is a sign of even greater love that it has been made known to them that they are called children of G-d.

Pirkeh Avot explains, greater than the actual reality of being God’s children, is the awareness and understanding of this reality, that we are God’s children.

This highlights the importance of  communication in a healthy relationship. One of the most popular answers typically given when people are asked why they left their job is that they did not feel appreciated. Not because of pay or career advancement but because they did not feel valued. They were not necessarily under appreciated but they just didn't feel appreciated. The role of expressing  gratitude and appreciation is filled through communication.

Having feelings of gratitude towards someone pales in comparison to expressing those feelings of gratitude. Don't miss an opportunity to tell someone you appreciate their work, or that you love them or care for them. It is greater than the love and gratitude itself.

I love and cherish my family and friends. In just six weeks I'll be loving them & cherishing them as we travel to NY & the Northeast. That is our journey of love. Happy 5th Anniversary!!

An important idea that is good to be reminded of from time to time. Thanks for sharing!
