I have seen over 300 different bands perform live and not once during a concert did I ever check my watch (maybe because I don't have a watch). When you are having fun you are outside of time.

This week we are reading the penultimate parsha in the Torah. As we end the reading of the Torah we also start a new year. According to the Kabbalah the start of something, and how you approach it, is very important to the overall experience.

Moshe’s closing remarks in this week’s parsha were not remarks at all. He sang a song. He was teaching a lesson to the Jewish people. The Torah and it’s mitzvot (commandments) should not be seen as a burden, they should be seen as something fun.

This year find a mitzvah in the Torah that you can connect to, that is fun for you. I love the outdoors and building, and I can't wait to build a sukkah and sit in it. Maybe you enjoy eating or singing or spending time with your parents.

If you see something as joyous, as a song, then you will want to sing it, you will have the tune in your head all day. If it is seen as an obligation you will be checking your watch waiting  and wanting for it to be over.

This year I will try and connect to God through having fun.

Shabbat Shalom  and Shanah Tova

Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
