When I was 7 years old, I remember waiting in a hallway in front of my school, the Rabbi walked in and a dollar bill fell out of his pocket. I said nothing. Someone else walked in to the school looked down and picked up the bill. I should have initiated a conversation, I should have said something to the Rabbi.

In Parsha's Noach, Noach does not speak to anyone, until the very end of the Parsha he scolds his sons when he is personally wronged, he did not reach out to anyone. One person in specific he could have reached out to was Avraham. Both men were at the Tower of Bavel but the older Noach never reached out to Avraham.  Noach's name נח  is equel to 58 that is how many years he was alive while Avraham was alive. Noach built a boat, but he never built a bridge.

" initiating the conversation is half the battle"  -Frankenstein from big daddy

My sales trainer used to say "get comfortable being uncomfortable". Sales is about reaching out and connecting to people, connecting with people is the only way to help them. You can't be shy if you are going to be successful at sales and you cant be shy if you are going to help people. Noach had a wealth of experience he could have shared with Avraham but he was silent.

Ten years after that day in the hallway, I went to college and began speaking to people of diverse backgrounds, setting meetings with anyone who would talk to me, I joined clubs, I registered over 100 people to vote. I started learning how to build bridges.

Some people are naturally outgoing, I was not, but I believe everyone must develop the  skill of reaching out and connecting to people it is not innate. No one is a born salesman you must devlop your skills in order to help people. In college I set a meeting with a man from Jews for Jesus to hear what he had to say, on the way back I found a $50 dollar bill on the floor and gave it to Tzedakah.

Special thanks to my Chaburah for contributing ideas. Please come learn Parsha with us, every day at 1:30 in Riverdale, Bronx,NY
